Adult Themes

Leon Michels’s rich musical career as a multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, and songwriter spans the eclectic soul project El Michels Affair, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, The Arcs, The Black Keys, Dr. John, Lee Fields, as well as collaborations with Beyoncé and Jay Z, Adele, Freddie Gibbs and the Wu-Tang Clan to name a few. As a producer, Michels has produced records for artists such as Lana Del Ray, Nicole Wray, and Hanni El Khatib to name a few.

Michels’s album Adult Themes, released in the summer of 2020, is largely inspired by the moody works of '60's film score composers such as Francois de Roubaix, as well as the dense instrumental orchestrations from artists such as David Axelrod and Moondog . We had the opportunity to collaborate with Michels to art direct the project and design the album packaging in a way that captured Adult Themes’ sophisticated and seductive cinematic sensibility.
